onze kanjers

Deze lieverds wachten al een tijdje op een forever home.  Ook zij verdienen een gouden mandje en  dit hun moment om the shinen in the Spotlight.

Hoe het Begon
Het Verhaal van Hero
Kleine Hero is gevonden door voorzitster en oprichtster van HomelessDogs. De vondst van Hero gaf haar uiteindelijk het duwtje in de rug om Stichting HomelessDogs te starten. Dit is dan ook haar eigen verhaal:
Tijdens een verblijf in Portugal zag ik Hero liggen. Hero lag samen met een broertje en twee zusjes in een klein asiel in de plaats Fafe ( Noord Portugal ). Voor één zusje was het al te laat. Haar lijfje had de strijd tegen de honger en de wormen opgegeven. Isis (ik heb haar toch een naam gegeven) was inmiddels overleden en aangevreten door de ratten.
Om het nog levende zusje van Hero, Shake, maakte ik me de meeste zorgen. Ze liep als een leguaan en leek flinke pijn te hebben. Radeloos stond ik daar. En nu…….? Zonder verder al te veel over de gevolgen na te denken heb ik haar opgepakt. Samen met de vriendin waarmee ik in Portugal was zijn we gelijk naar een dierenarts gereden. Het arme ding bleek vol met wormen te zitten.
Bij de dierenarts kon ik de ogen van kleine Hero niet vergeten. Radeloos en wantrouwend maar toch hoopvol had hij mij bekeken. Ik kreeg zijn vragende ogen niet van mijn netvlies af. Zijn zusje achterlatend onder de goede zorgen van de dierenarts ben ik in de auto gesprongen en terug gereden. Daar lagen ze nog samen, Hero en Soza, zoals we ze hadden achter gelaten. Wat ik al wist bevestigde de blik van Hero. Het bestaat, liefde op het eerste gezicht. Terug bij de dierenarts bleken ook Hero en Soza veel zieker te zijn dan ze in eerste instantie leken. De dierenarts heeft er alles aan gedaan om Hero en Soza er bovenop te helpen, maar voor Hero was het te laat.
Nooit zal ik Hero’s oogjes vergeten! Lieve Hero, ben happy en vrij!
